District 30 New School Leader/IA Principal Project Director
The Office of New School Development & Design is working to reimagine the educational landscape of NYCPS. We are committed to the pioneering spirit of a transformative approach developing and designing schools that are innovative, flexible, and student-centered. The core of the work is to create many paths to the same outcome: a good education, preparation for college and productive citizenship, and a path to economic security.
The New School Acting Principal Assigned / Project Director will design and implement a plan for a new elementary school together with the District 30 community that will open its doors in September, 2026.
The Project Director will design and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and partners – students, families, and divisions of NYCPS – to plan a new elementary school. The Project Director will design and develop the new school, including in the following targeted areas:
Educational Leadership:
Provide visionary leadership in the development and implementation of a comprehensive educational program that aligns with District 30 community priorities.
Foster a culture of high expectations, equity, and continuous improvement among students and staff.
Develop and communicate a clear vision for the new elementary school that inspires and motivates stakeholders.
Curriculum Development:
Collaborate with teachers and instructional leaders to design and implement a rigorous and innovative curriculum.
Ensure curriculum alignment with state and city educational standards.
Integrate technology and real-world applications into the curriculum.
Staff Development and Management:
Recruit, hire, and retain highly qualified educators and support staff.
Provide ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and promote a growth mindset among staff.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to foster growth.
Student Success:
Implement data-driven strategies to monitor and improve student achievement, attendance, and behavior.
Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity and student well-being.
Develop strategies to support the diverse needs of all students, including those with special needs and English Language Learners.
Community Engagement:
Build strong partnerships with families, and community organizations to create a supportive and collaborative school environment.
Act as a liaison between the school and the community, advocating for the needs of students and families.
Budget and Resource Management:
Develop and manage the school budget to allocate resources effectively and efficiently.
Oversee the procurement of educational materials, technology, and facilities maintenance.
Compliance and Accountability:
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and city regulations and mandates.
Maintain accurate records and reports as required by the NYC Department of Education.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a valid New York State certificate in School Administration/Supervision (SAS), School District Administrator (SDA), School Building Leadership (SBL), or Administrator Certificate, and must be in the Principal Candidate Pool. Please note, we do not accept internship certificates.
A Master's degree in education or a related field
Minimum of five years of experience in educational leadership, with a strong background in STEAM education.
Proven track record of improving student achievement and fostering a positive school culture.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Knowledge of current educational trends, research, and best practices.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
