NYC Public Schools is Boldly Reimagining Multilingualism in NYC Public Schools by developing a community-informed strategy for Welcoming and Inclusive Schools, Pathways to Multilingualism, and Preparing Global Leaders. In June 2024, Chancellor Banks announced the creation of an advisory council for Boldly Reimagining Multilingualism in NYC Public Schools. This Multilingual NYC Advisory Council will include students, parents, community members, and New York City Public Schools staff.

The NYSSB recognizes high school graduates who can listen, speak, read, and write in English and at least one other language. The NYSSB is available to any graduating senior who has met the requirements for a diploma and can show their skill in English and another language.
