Family Welcome Centers (FWCs) serve New York City families year-round with enrollment and admissions by appointment. FWCs can support with:
- Enrollment: Assistance with enrolling your child in New York City public schools.
- Transfers: Help with transferring your child to another New York City public school.
- Applications: Support applying for 3-K, Pre-K, Kindergarten, Middle, and High School
How to Get Help
Enrolling at your zoned school:
Most elementary and middle school students can enroll directly at their zoned school, without having to visit a Family Welcome Center. To find your zoned school, follow these instructions:
- Visit schoolsearch.schools.nyc and enter your address in the School Name or Address search bar.
- In the Grade dropdown, choose your child's grade level.
- In the Borough dropdown, select the borough where you live.
- Click the Search button.
- Look for zoned schools under "Current Zoned Schools."

Make an appointment by:
- Emailing your local Family Welcome Center (See the list of FWC locations and contact information in the Family Welcome Center Locations section below).
- Calling your Local Family Welcome Center if sending an email is not possible.
When you email us, please include the following information:
- Child’s Full Name
- Date of Birth
- Student ID Number (if available)
- Brief summary of your needs
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
