Set Up Security Questions for Your DOE Account

Setting up security questions will help prevent you from being locked out of your DOE accounts. Take the time now to answer these questions.

  1. Go to https://idm.nycenet.edu/selfservice
  2. Sign in with just your username (without the @schools.nyc.gov part of your email) and your current password. The “Change Security Questions” screen will appear.
  3. Answer any three questions.
  4. Click the "Okay" button

Trouble Shooting

  • Why don't I see the “Password & Profile Management” screen?
    • Because you've already set up your security questions.
  • What if I don't remember what my answers were?
    • You can change them!  All you have to do is:
  1. Select “Change Security Questions.”
  2. Click on the “Clear” button to remove any one—or all—of your previous three answers.
  3. Provide a new answer to that—or any other—question.
  4. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “OK” button.
  5. The “Request Completed” screen will appear. You’re done!

Password Reset

  1. Go to https://idm.nycenet.edu/selfservice
  2. Sign in with just your username (without the @schools.nyc.gov part of your email) and your current password. Click the “Sign In” button. The “Password & Profile Management” screen will appear.
  3. Select “Change Password”—it’s the first option.
  4. Enter your old password
  5. Enter a new password
  6. Confirm the new password
  7. Click “OK”.

Locked Out of Account

Use the Service Desk Quick Incident form. The form is available 24/7. Responses and assistance is available during Service Desk hours.
