NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) is a web-based application that lets you to see your child’s academic and biographic information on any computer, phone, or tablet. The application is translated into nine languages other than English. In the account, you can see a child’s attendance, grades, test scores, Fitnessgram results, enrollment history, and schedule.
Sign Into Your NYC Schools Account
Sign into your NYC Schools Account from a computer, phone, or tablet on NYC Schools Account Sign-In page.
If you created your account in person, enter your email address and temporary password on the NYC Schools Account Sign-In page. Follow the directions printed on your "NYC Schools Account Confirmation Receipt" to set up your account.
Create an Account in Person or Online
If you are the child’s parent or guardian, you can either:
- Visit your child’s school in-person to receive a temporary password
- Use the Account Creation Code on the letter sent home with your child
Details of what you need, and how to do each of these processes are below:
Register in Person
You can visit your child's school to create an account. When setting up an account, bring a valid photo ID (for example: your passport, your drivers’ license, or an IDNYC), your email address, and your child’s 9-digit student ID number, which can be found on your child’s report card.
You can create an NYC Schools Account online without visiting your child’s school. You will need your child's unique NYC Schools Account Creation Code located in the letter about NYC Schools Account from your child’s school. You will also need your child’s 9-digit student ID number in order to create an NYC Schools Account or to add additional children to your existing account.
Levels of Access
Each adult associated with your child's record is assigned the role of either a Custodial, Noncustodial, or Additional user. These roles determine how much of your child’s information they can see.
- As a Custodial user, you can see all information available in your child’s NYC Schools Account. Also, you can invite other adults to view your child's information.
- As a Noncustodial user, you can see most information in your child’s NYC Schools Account.
- As an Additional user, you can only see information the custodial user shares with you.
You can now invite other adults who are associated with your child's school record to have their own accounts. You can invite relatives, the babysitter, a neighbor or tutor, a parent who lives in a different place, or anyone else who you feel it is important to share your child’s information with. However, as some of this information is kept private by schools, we ask you to consider carefully whom you will invite. You control how much or how little information you want to share with them.
After signing in to your account, go to the Manage User Access page. Here you will see the adults you can share your child’s information with. You will need to provide your child’s Student ID number to the person you want to share the account with. Without that number, they will be unable to complete the account-joining process.

Who can create an NYC Schools Account for my child?

I was invited to view a child’s NYC Schools Account information. Now what?
You will need both the Account Creation Code and the child’s 9-digit student ID, which the child's parent must share with you. You will need both pieces of information in order to create an NYC Schools Account or add the child to your existing NYC Schools Account.
The amount of information you see for the child depends upon the level of access the custodial user has granted to you. For any questions about the content or your access to a child’s NYC Schools Account, we encourage you to speak with the child’s parent.
I used to have full access to the child’s NYC Schools Account information, and now I see less information.
If your access to a child’s information has changed, this is because of a change made by the child’s parent.
When do I use my Account Creation Code?
You will only need an Account Creation Code if you are creating your account online or adding more children to your existing NYC Schools Account.
I haven’t received an Account Creation Code. What should I do?
Your child’s school should provide you with an NYC Schools Account Creation Code letter containing a unique Account Creation Code. If you have more than one child attending an NYC public school, you will receive a code for each child. If you did not receive a letter, contact your child’s school or set up an appointment to create an account in person.
Will I need a separate account for each child?
No, you will be able to view all of your children under one NYC Schools Account. Once you create an account, you can add more children by entering their 9-digit student ID numbers and Account Creation Codes on the Add Student page.

Can I view my child’s information in a language other than English?
Yes, you can select one of ten languages on your NYC Schools Account Home Page, including Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, French, Haitian Creole, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Urdu.
I forgot my password. How can I log in?
If you have created an NYC Schools Account and forgot your password, use the Forgot your password? link on the sign in page to reset it. If the problem continues, contact your child’s school.
What if my child’s NYC Schools Account information is incorrect?
If any of the information you see about your child in NYC Schools Account is incorrect, contact your child’s school.
I do not have a computer. How can I access NYC Schools Account?
NYC Schools Account is accessible from any internet-ready device, such as a computer, phone, or tablet. If you need access to a computer, visit your nearest public library.
Why do I need to confirm my email to access my child’s data?
All NYC Schools Account users are being asked to confirm their email address to ensure that the address provided is associated with an active email account.
I already have an NYC Schools Account and I received a message to confirm my email address. What does this mean?
You will need to confirm your email address by clicking the validation link sent to your email account before proceeding to view your child’s information in your NYC Schools Account. For questions or concerns, contact your child’s school.
Is my child’s NYC Schools Account information secure?
