Borough President Appointee

Appointed for Community Education Councils (CECs)
Each CEC includes two voting members appointed by the relevant Borough President. Qualifications include residing in the CEC’s district, or owning or operating a business there. Appointees are not required to be parents.

Public Advocate Appointee

Appointed for Citywide Educational Councils
CCSE, CCD75 and CCELL each have two Public Advocate appointees and CCHS has one who must be residents of New York City and demonstrate experience relevant to the populations these councils represent. The one member of CCHS who’s appointed by the Public Advocate must be a resident of New York City with extensive business or education experience. These appointees are not required to be parents.
