Digital Art & Design (Q12A)Students will complete a still drawing and design exercise. All students will be interviewed and should bring a portfolio.
Music: Performance & Production (Q12B)*Students may audition for the program by playing ANY instrument and/or singing a prepared musical selection in any style. Instrumentalists should also prepare three scales of their choice. Beginning students are encouraged to attend the audition for a musical aptitude test, as well as an interview.

Forest Hills High School

Drama Academy (Q19N)*Perform two contrasting monologues (one minute each). Further details about the audition are available on the school website. Wear attire that allows free movement.
Academy of Instrumental and Vocal Music (Q19P)*Vocal Music: Perform a prepared vocal selection. Please provide sheet music for pianist. Instrumental Music: Perform a prepared solo selection and a scale. Bring your own instrument (except piano, double bass, tuba, percussion and guitar amplifiers, which will be provided). For both art forms, the audition includes on-site music tasks (may include singing back melodic patterns, tapping back rhythmic patterns, play selected scales, or completing a sight reading, music theory or improvisation task).

Frank Sinatra School of the Arts High School

Film and Media Arts (Q40F)The audition consists of 3 parts. Students are asked to come to the audition with a camera or smartphone of their choice. Please make sure that it is capable of recording video. (If you do not have a smart phone or camera one will be provided to you.) Part 1 is a hands-on film exercise during which students will be tested on their visual literacy and visual approach to storytelling. Part 2 consists of a writing exercise based on a photographic image. Students will be tested on basic writing skills and creative storytelling. Part 3 will be a brief interview regarding the applicant's film knowledge and interest in filmmaking.
Fine Arts (Q40J)Present a portfolio with 10-15 pieces of original work created from observation and from student's own imagination, with a diversity of subject matter and use of media, including examples of line, value and color. Student work should be unframed and need not be matted. Three-dimensional work can be shown in photographs. You will also be required to draw from observation and memory, using pencil.
Instrumental Music (Q40K)*Perform at least one solo selection and three major scales. Take a sight-reading test and a rhythmic comprehension test in which you are required to tap back rhythmic patterns. Bring your own instrument (except piano, tuba, double bass, percussion instruments, guitar amplifiers); bring 2 copies of audition music.
Vocal Music (Q40L)Perform the 'Star Spangled Banner' (accompaniment will be provided) and one minute of a classical or a standard musical theater piece. Bring sheet music in your key.
Dance (Q40M)*Students will take an abbreviated ballet class followed by modern and jazz dance combinations. Participants are to audition in appropriate dance attire: leotard, tights and ballet shoes.
Drama (Q40N)*Present two memorized, contrasting, one-minute monologues that must be from published plays - no Internet or original material will be accepted; do a cold reading from selected scenes.

All students will be interviewed and portfolios are optional, but strongly recommended.
