2019 – 2020 Key Dates

Dates in bold show days off and when school starts again after a break.  

2019

September

  • September 5: first day of school (partial day for pre-kindergarten students in public school) 
  • September 12: evening parent-teacher conferences for elementary schools and K–8 schools
  • September 19: evening parent-teacher conferences for middle schools
  • September 26: evening parent-teacher conferences for high schools, K–12, and 6–12 schools
  • September 30–October 1: schools closed for Rosh Hashanah

October

  • October 9: schools closed for Yom Kippur
  • October 14: schools closed for Columbus Day

November

  • November 5: students do not attend school (Election Day/chancellor’s conference day for staff
  • November 6–7: evening and afternoon parent-teacher conferences for middle schools and District 75 programs
  • November 11: schools closed for Veterans Day
  • November 13–14: evening and afternoon parent-teacher conferences for elementary and K–8 schools
  • November 21–22: evening and afternoon parent-teacher conferences for high schools, K–12, and 6–12 schools
  • November 28–29: schools closed for Thanksgiving break

December

  • December 24–January 1: schools closed for winter break

2020

January

  • January 2: schools re-open
  • January 20: schools closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • January 27: high school and grade 6-12 students do not attend school (clerical day, except for District 75 programs) 
  • January 28: students return to school (in schools on a semester model)

February

  • February 17–21: schools closed for midwinter break

March

  • March 4–5: afternoon and evening parent-teacher conferences for elementary and K–8 schools
  • March 12–13: afternoon and evening parent-teacher conferences for middle schools and District 75 programs
  • March 19–20: afternoon and evening parent-teacher conferences for high schools, K–12, and 6–12 schools

April

  • April 9–17: schools closed for spring break

May

  • May 7: evening parent-teacher conferences for elementary and K–8 schools
  • May 14: evening parent-teacher conferences for middle schools
  • May 21: evening parent-teacher conferences for high schools, K–12, and 6–12 schools
  • May 25: schools closed for Memorial Day

June

  • June 4:  students do not attend school (Anniversary Day/chancellor’s conference day for staff)
  • June 9: elementary, middle school, and District 75 students do not attend school (clerical day)  
  • June 26: Last day of school (early dismissal)
